Dear Santa, my name is Journey, and I am nine years old. I live in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where my grandma says our city grows more corn nearby than almost anywhere else in the country.
Dear Journey, a city surrounded by that much corn deserves a very appreciative flyover, your grandma picked a truly bountiful hometown.
Santa, I have three questions.
Is there a Santa Bingo? My teacher wants to play a holiday game with our whole class this December.
There certainly are Santa themed bingo games out there, Journey, cards filled with reindeer, stockings, and cheerful little pictures instead of numbers. Your teacher sounds like she has a wonderfully fun class activity planned.
My grandma says Cedar Rapids sits along the Cedar River. Is that true?
It is true, Journey, the Cedar River flows right through your city, an important part of its name and landscape. I always follow that glimmering path to help find my way to your rooftop.
My grandma says Iowa is one of the top corn producing states in the whole country. Is that true?
It is true, Journey, Iowa’s farmland produces an enormous amount of corn each year, feeding people and animals across the country. That kind of steady, hardworking harvest is really something worth appreciating.
