What Happens in Santa Claus 2? II

Lachlan, age 9 from Brisbane, Australia, asks Santa what happens in Santa Claus 2, the winding Brisbane River, and the Boxing Day Test tradition.

Dear Santa, my name is Lachlan, and I am nine years old. I live in Brisbane, Australia, where my dad says our river winds so much through the city that boats practically double back on themselves getting anywhere.

Dear Lachlan, a winding river like that keeps my flight path interesting, your dad picked a truly scenic hometown.

Santa, I have three questions.

What happens in Santa Claus 2? My mum keeps saying I should watch it but never explains what it is about.

In that one, Santa has been doing the job happily for years until he learns of an old rule requiring him to find a wife before Christmas Eve, or lose the role entirely. While he sorts that out, a substitute stand-in causes a fair bit of chaos back at the workshop. It all works out with plenty of heart by the end, as these stories tend to.

My dad says the Brisbane River winds and loops a lot through the middle of the city. Is that true?

It is true, Lachlan, the Brisbane River curves and loops dramatically through your city, making for one of the more winding approaches on my entire Australian route.

My dad says a big cricket match happens every year right after Christmas, called the Boxing Day Test. Is that true?

It is true, Lachlan, the Boxing Day Test is a beloved Australian sporting tradition, drawing huge crowds every December 26th. That kind of shared national tradition, everyone tuning in together, is a wonderful way to keep the holiday spirit going a little longer.

Merry Christmas, Santa.

Your friend,
Lachlan Doyle
Brisbane, Australia

P.S. Do you watch the Boxing Day Test too, once your deliveries are done?

Only the highlights, Lachlan, by then I am usually fast asleep.
