Dear Santa, my name is Astrid, and I am nine years old. I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where my mormor says our city has more than twenty lakes right inside the city limits.
Dear Astrid, twenty lakes inside one city is quite the collection, your mormor picked a truly watery, wonderful hometown.
Santa, I have three questions.
Are there tracking games for Santa? My little brother wants to play something on Christmas Eve while we wait for you.
There are quite a few fun games and activities out there for waiting on Christmas Eve, Astrid, ask a grown-up to help find one that suits your family. A little friendly game is a wonderful way to pass those last, excited hours before bedtime.
My mormor says Minneapolis is nicknamed the City of Lakes because it has so many of them. Is that true?
It is true, Astrid, Minneapolis is home to more than twenty lakes within its own borders, earning that fitting nickname. I always enjoy that sparkling, frozen view flying in during winter.
My mormor says a lot of families in Minnesota have Scandinavian roots, which shapes some of our Christmas traditions. Is that true?
It is true, Astrid, many Minnesota families trace their roots back to Sweden, Norway, and other Scandinavian countries, bringing traditions like special breads and candlelight celebrations along with them. That blending of old family traditions into a new home is really a beautiful thing to witness.
