My name is Filip and I am 8 years old. I live in Ljubljana, Slovenia, where the whole main square gets covered in fairy lights and my papa says it is one of the most beautiful Decembers in all of Europe.

Do you look like the American Santa, or wear different clothes?
Quite similar these days, red coat and all, though older Slovenian tradition sometimes pictured me in slightly simpler, more old-fashioned dress.
What mountain range rises up in Slovenia?
Slovenia is home to the Julian Alps, including Mount Triglav, the country’s tallest peak, which is even pictured on the Slovenian flag. Flying over those sharp, snowy peaks on Christmas Eve is one of the most beautiful stretches of my whole night.
Why did Slovenia get its own flag in 1991?
Slovenia became an independent country in 1991, after being part of Yugoslavia, a larger country made up of several different republics. When Slovenia declared independence, it adopted its own flag and government, becoming a nation that could make its own decisions for its own people, which is a very big and proud moment for any country.
