Dear Santa, my name is Shanice, and I am eight years old. I live in St. George’s, Grenada, where my granny says our whole island smells like nutmeg and cinnamon, especially right before Christmas.

Santa, I have three questions.
Have you seen Christmas Alani? My cousin mentioned it but I could not find it anywhere to watch.
I am not familiar with that particular title myself, Shanice, there are so many Christmas films released every year that even I lose track sometimes. Perhaps ask a grown-up to help search together, that could turn into its own fun little holiday mystery.
My teacher says Grenada is nicknamed the Spice Isle because it grows so much nutmeg. Is that true?
It is true, Shanice, Grenada produces a remarkable amount of the world’s nutmeg, earning that lovely nickname fair and square. I always notice that warm, spicy smell the moment I get close to your island.
My granny says groups of neighbors go from house to house singing carols together before Christmas here. Is that true?
It is true, Shanice, serenading and caroling from house to house is a cherished Grenadian Christmas tradition, neighbors sharing songs and good cheer together. That kind of walking, singing generosity is exactly the sound I love hearing most on my whole route.
