Journey, age 9 from Santiago, Chile, asks Santa about his name spelling, the Andes Mountains, and being Chile’s capital.
Dear Santa, my name is Journey, and I am nine years old. I live in Santiago, Chile, where my abuelo says the Andes Mountains rise right behind our whole city.
Dear Journey, a city backed by mountains that grand deserves a very appreciative flyover, your abuelo picked a truly majestic hometown.
Santa, I have three questions.
How do you spell Santa Claus in Spanish? My prima says it looks almost the same but sounds a little different.
Your prima is quite right, Journey, in Spanish my name is often written the very same way, Santa Claus, though many also call me Papa Noel. Both spellings and names carry the very same warmth and kindness.
My abuelo says Santiago sits right at the foot of the Andes Mountains. Is that true?
It is true, Journey, the Andes rise dramatically just beyond your city, one of the longest mountain ranges in the world. I always enjoy that towering, snowy landscape flying in to visit you.
My abuelo says Santiago is the capital of the whole country of Chile. Is that true?
It is true, Journey, Santiago serves as Chile’s capital, an important center of government for the whole country. That kind of steady, important responsibility keeps a city rather busy all year round.
Merry Christmas, Santa.
Your friend,
Journey Fernandez
Santiago, Chile
P.S. Will you tell Papa Noel I said hello?
Already passed along, Journey, he sends his warmest wishes right back.
