Is There a Christmas Vacation 2?

Malachi, age 9 from St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, asks Santa about Christmas Vacation 2, the islands’ 365 beaches, and their Christmas traditions.

Dear Santa, my name is Malachi, and I am nine years old. I live in St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, where my granny says our islands have a different beach for every single day of the year.

Dear Malachi, three hundred sixty five beaches sounds like the most ambitious vacation itinerary I have ever heard of, your granny picked a truly stunning hometown.

Santa, I have three questions.

Is there a Christmas Vacation 2? My dad says he watched something like that once but hated it.

There is, Malachi, a made-for-television follow-up from 2003 with a very different cast, and I will admit your dad is far from alone in his opinion. Sometimes the original really is hard to beat.

My teacher says Antigua really does have a beach for every day of the year. Is that true?

It is true, Malachi, Antigua is famously said to have three hundred sixty five beaches, one for every day. I always have a hard time picking just one to admire on my way in.

My granny says our islands celebrate a big festival called Carnival during the summer, and Christmas has its own special traditions too. Is that true?

It is true, Malachi, while Carnival lights up the summer, Christmas here brings its own music, church services, and family gatherings by the sea. Every season on your island seems to come with its own reason to celebrate together.

Merry Christmas, Santa.

Your friend,
Malachi Joseph
St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda

P.S. Which beach do you land the sleigh on?

I rotate, Malachi, it would be unfair to play favorites among three hundred sixty five options.
