Georgia, age 9 from Meredith, New Hampshire, asks Santa about Annalee dolls, Lake Winnipesaukee, and small-town identity.
Dear Santa, my name is Georgia, and I am nine years old. I live in Meredith, New Hampshire, right on the edge of the biggest lake in our whole state.
Dear Georgia, a lake that big makes for one of the most peaceful landings on my entire route, your family picked a truly beautiful hometown.
Santa, I have three questions.
Is there an Annalee Santa? My grandma collects little felt dolls and has a Santa one she loves.
There certainly is, Georgia, Annalee dolls have been beloved handmade creations since 1934, right there in your own town. Your grandma has excellent taste, that particular company started not far from your own front door.
My mom says Lake Winnipesaukee is the biggest lake in the whole state of New Hampshire. Is that true?
It is true, Georgia, Lake Winnipesaukee stretches wide across your state, the largest lake in all of New Hampshire. I always enjoy that sparkling, peaceful water on my way to your rooftop.
My mom says small towns like ours sometimes build a whole local identity around one special business or tradition. Is that true?
It is true, Georgia, many small towns find pride in one special thing, whether it is a lake, a festival, or a beloved local company. That kind of hometown pride, everyone celebrating something together, is really worth admiring.
Merry Christmas, Santa.
Your friend,
Georgia Whitcomb
Meredith, New Hampshire
P.S. Will you bring my grandma a new Annalee doll for her collection?
Already wrapped, Georgia, a growing collection deserves a proper new addition.
