Is There an Autobiography of Santa?

Is There an Autobiography of Santa?

Journey, age 8 from Lawrence, Kansas, asks Santa about books from his perspective, the Kansas River, and the university’s history.

Dear Santa, my name is Journey, and I am eight years old. I live in Lawrence, Kansas, where my mom says our town is famous for one of the oldest college basketball programs in the whole country.

Dear Journey, a town with basketball history that deep deserves a very appreciative flyover, your mom picked a truly spirited hometown.

Santa, I have three questions.

Is there an autobiography of Santa? My teacher wants us to find a book written from your own point of view.

Plenty of storytellers have written books imagining my own point of view, Journey, filled with tales from the workshop and the sleigh. Ask your teacher or a librarian to help find one that suits your reading level.

My mom says Lawrence sits along the Kansas River. Is that true?

It is true, Journey, the Kansas River flows right past your town, an important part of its history. I always follow that glimmering path to help find my way to your rooftop.

My mom says Lawrence is home to a really historic university. Is that true?

It is true, Journey, the University of Kansas has called your town home for well over a century. That kind of steady, scholarly tradition is really something worth admiring.

Merry Christmas, Santa.

Your friend,
Journey Halloway
Lawrence, Kansas

P.S. Will you write a chapter about the elves this year?

Already drafted, Journey, the elves deserve their own proper story.
