What is Santa’s address? – Wilmington

Ellery from Wilmington asks Santa about his address, learns about the Adirondack Mountains and Whiteface Mountain, and hears about North Pole, New York’s real Santa’s Workshop theme park, open since 1949

Dear Santa, my name is Ellery and I am nine years old. I live in Wilmington, New York, right near a place actually called North Pole, where my grandpa says a Christmas theme park has been open since long before he was even born.

Dear Ellery, your grandpa is entirely right, and I have visited that particular park myself for a genuinely long time.

Santa, I have three questions.

My first question is, what is Santa’s address? My little cousin wants to write directly to the real North Pole, not just any address.

The North Pole itself is a rather difficult mailing address, Ellery, but letters addressed simply and clearly to Santa Claus, North Pole, tend to find their way to me regardless, through wonderful helpers along the way.

My second question is about our mountains. My teacher says Whiteface Mountain is one of the tallest in the Adirondacks. Is that true?

It is, Ellery. Whiteface Mountain rises dramatically in the Adirondack Mountains, one of the highest peaks in the range, and it has even hosted Winter Olympic events. Flying near its snowy summit each Christmas Eve is a genuinely beautiful part of my route.

My third question is about the theme park. My teacher says Santa’s Workshop here has been open since 1949. Is that true?

It is true, Ellery. Santa’s Workshop opened in 1949, making it one of the very first themed amusement parks in the entire United States. I always feel a particular fondness flying over a place that has celebrated the season so faithfully for so long.

Merry Christmas, Santa.

Your friend,
Ellery Whitcombe
Wilmington, New York

P.S. Do you visit both North Poles, yours and this one?

Every year, Ellery. Both hold a special place for me.
