A Letter to Santa from Nuuk, Greenland
Dear Santa,
Aluu Santa! My name is Inuk and I am 8 years old. I live in Nuuk, in Greenland, the land of ice, snow, and the dancing northern lights. I love sledding and watching for whales. My question is: where does Santa Claus live? Are you anywhere near me? My geography question is: what is the largest island in the world? And my social studies question is: who are the Inuit people? Qujanaq, Santa!

Ho ho ho, aluu Inuk! You may be one of my closest neighbors of all, so a very special hello to you. I live at the North Pole, way up at the very top of the world, in a snug, snowy workshop surrounded by ice and twinkling lights, not far at all from your own Greenland. Some kind people in Finland say I live in their Lapland too, and I am happy to let them share the fun. But my true home is the North Pole, where the snow never melts and the reindeer are always ready to fly.
Your geography question: the largest island
The largest island in the whole world is your own Greenland! It is so big that most of it is covered by a thick sheet of ice, yet hardy, wonderful people like you make their homes along its coasts. The Inuit are the native people of the Arctic, including your own Greenland, as well as parts of Canada and Alaska.
