Journey, age 8 from Frederick, Maryland, asks Santa about sports figurines, the Monocacy River, and the town’s historic downtown.
Dear Santa, my name is Journey, and I am eight years old. I live in Frederick, Maryland, where my grandpa says our town has one of the oldest downtowns still standing in the whole state.
Dear Journey, a town with a downtown that old deserves a very respectful flyover, your grandpa picked a truly historic hometown.
Santa, I have three questions.
Is there a baseball Santa figurine? My uncle collects sports themed decorations and wants one shaped like you.
There certainly are baseball themed versions of me out there, Journey, complete with a little bat and cap. Your uncle’s collection sounds like it has found a proper new addition.
My grandpa says Frederick sits along the Monocacy River. Is that true?
It is true, Journey, the Monocacy River flows right past your town, an important part of its history. I always follow that glimmering path to help find my way to your rooftop.
My grandpa says Frederick’s downtown has kept many of its old historic buildings. Is that true?
It is true, Journey, Frederick has carefully preserved much of its historic downtown for generations to enjoy. That kind of thoughtful care for history is really something worth admiring.
Merry Christmas, Santa.
Your friend,
Journey Whitfield
Frederick, Maryland
P.S. Will you bring my uncle a new figurine for his collection this year?
Already wrapped, Journey, a growing collection deserves a proper new addition.
