Is There a Snow Miser in Year Without a Santa Claus? II

Everett, age 9 from Concord, New Hampshire, asks Santa about Snow Miser, the White Mountains, and New Hampshire’s Live Free or Die motto.

Dear Santa, my name is Everett, and I am nine years old. I live in Concord, New Hampshire, where my dad says our whole state’s motto is basically as bold as it gets, right there on every license plate.

Dear Everett, a state that wears its motto with that much pride has earned my genuine respect, your dad picked a truly spirited hometown.

Santa, I have three questions.

Is there a Snow Miser in Year Without a Santa Claus? My grandma says he is her favorite character from any Christmas special.

There is, Everett, Snow Miser is a memorable character from that classic special, representing the cold, icy side of winter, alongside his opposite, the Heat Miser. Your grandma has good taste, that particular pair has entertained families for generations.

My dad says the White Mountains, right here in New Hampshire, are some of the tallest in the whole Northeast. Is that true?

It is true, Everett, the White Mountains rise dramatically across your state, among the tallest peaks in the entire northeastern United States. I always enjoy that snowy, rugged view on my way to your rooftop.

My dad says New Hampshire’s official motto is Live Free or Die, printed right on our license plates. Is that true?

It is true, Everett, that bold motto has represented New Hampshire’s independent spirit for a very long time. I always admire a state, or a person, who knows exactly what they stand for.

Merry Christmas, Santa.

Your friend,
Everett Hughes
Concord, New Hampshire

P.S. Do you have a favorite Miser, Snow or Heat?

I stay neutral on Miser rivalries, Everett, professional courtesy among fellow winter characters.
