James, age 9, asks Kris Kringle do you have reindeer pulling your sleigh?, about Boston’s Atlantic coast, and its role in the American Revolution
Dear Kris Kringle,
My name is James and I am 9 years old. I live in Boston, Massachusetts, where my family walks the Freedom Trail every December before we go see the big tree lighting on the Common.
First, do you have reindeer pulling your sleigh?
Second, a geography question: what ocean touches Boston?
Third, a school question about my country: why is Boston called the birthplace of the American Revolution?
I left you sugar cookies and a small glass of milk.
Love, James, age 9, Boston, Massachusetts, USA, Boston, Massachusetts, USA
From the Desk of Kris Kringle
Dear James, thank you for the treat, it was wonderful. Now, your questions.
Do you have reindeer pulling your sleigh?
Reindeer, most certainly, the very same team that carries the sleigh across the whole of my route.
What ocean touches Boston?
Boston sits right on the Atlantic Ocean, its old harbor still busy with boats, and the city lights along the water make for a fine, familiar approach as the sleigh comes down toward New England.
Why is Boston called the birthplace of the American Revolution?
Boston was the site of key events leading up to American independence, including the Boston Tea Party in 1773 and the Battles of Lexington and Concord in 1775, which helped spark the Revolutionary War. The city’s Freedom Trail today connects many of these historic sites, and Boston remains deeply tied to the story of how the United States began.
Merry Christmas, James.
Ho ho ho, Kris Kringle
